Library News Week Beginning 17th December 2018 (14)
JCSP Christmas Celebration
All junior students, and lots of parents came to the library on Monday to celebrate our JCSP Awards. Awards and prizes were given for Accelerated Reader; also for homework, attendance, best effort, basketball, football and Arts. Students celebrated afterwards with a selection of festive homemade cakes and cupcakes made by Michelle. Well done to all the students who received awards and to everyone else remember the next set of awards are in May so you have lots of time to work towards them.
Staff Book Club
The Staff Book Club was held during lunchtime on Thursday. We discussed Milkman, Who Moved My Cheese, The Periodic Table and Goodbye to all That. Each staff member made/brought food to share. Mr Soffe’s apple and honey cake was particularly popular as well as Ms McKenna’s Christmas shortbread cookies. Our 3rd Years chose and wrapped ‘gifts’ of a library book for each staff member and we were all very impressed by their choices.
Over Christmas we have decided to read Normal People, The Clockmaker’s Daughter and A Force for Justice.
Student Book Club
Winners of our Student Book Club draw, Kayla and Diane, were presented with book tokens by Bernadette Larkin, Reader in Residence for Dublin City Libraries as part of Dublin Unesco City of Literature. Bernadette will meet with with our Student Book Club before school on January 10th. We are currently reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and more copies are available from the library if anyone else would like to join us.
Ariana, Kayla and Zinedin were busy building another ‘bookman’ ⛄ for Larkin Library. We got inspiration (basically copied ) one created by #Clondalkin Library last week #booksforchristmas
There’s lots of new books available from our library for the Christmas holidays for students and staff to borrow for the holiday season.
