Teen-Turn Internships (11)
Fourteen junior students from Larkin are very lucky to have been chosen to participate in Teen-Turn's two week Summer Internship programme.
Joanne Dolan from Teen-Turn was invited in to visit Larkin Library and speak to interested students. The Teen-Turn programme, provides teen girls with the opportunity to spend two weeks during the summer in a technology career environment through work placements with Irish based companies. We were lucky enough to get places for 14 of our students on this fantastic programme.
After speaking with parents/guardians successful students were accompanied by Jenny to the induction day on July 24th in The Science Gallery. Students were given a presentation by Teen-Turn and Hayes Recruitment, given help to set up their blogs, provided with bus tickets/LEAP cards and given pre-loaded Mastercards or canteen cards for their lunches before they each met with their IT mentors from their assigned technology companies. The girls learned a little about the companies, the projects that would they be working on for their two week placement and were excited to hear about games rooms, gyms, nap pods and unlimited snacks which some of the companies provided. Students were then brought to visit some large technology companies in the Docklands - and loved being shown around Airbnb and Accenture where we were all very impressed to hear all the amazing perks they offer their employees.
We are looking forward to reading about our students' experiences when they begin their blogs and two week placements next week. We are very grateful to Joanne Dolan of Teen-Turn for all her hard work and help organising this fantastic opportunity for the girls.
