U16 Girls Team Beat Mercy College Sligo (17)

What an absolutely outstanding performance from our under 16 girls bball team in sligo on Thursday. We defeated Mercy Sligo 37-36 to qualify for our first ever All Ireland Quarter Final. The girls busted a gut from start to finish. This was epitomised by the fact our starting 5 had all picked up 5 personal fouls and needed to be subbed out. The girls who came in to replace them were fantastic in holding their composure to take victory. Last minute baskets from Octawia Piosik and Daria Stasiak cemented victory. Nhia Rutledge, Zion Olusuna and Katrina Makarova fought like lions under the boards to repel the wave of sligo attacks..  Rose Mesquita was her usual determined self picking up 11 points, while Alicia Jadia showed superb experience in holding possession and adding 11 points. Amran Maxamad was the catalyst for victory with an outstanding third quarter performance  adding 6 points. Captain Maja Miedjeko led by example scoring 5 points and she was ably assisted by the energetic Samantha Kerrigan who worked tirelessly on both ends of the court. We are so proud of you all. Team and scorers: Alicia Jadia 11, Rose Mesquita 11, Amran Maxamad 6, Maja Miedjeko 5, Otawia Piosik 2, Daria Stasiak 2, Katrina Marakova, Samantha Kerrigan, Zion Olusuna, Nhia Rutledge.
