We know that some students may not want to miss school, and in other years or in different circumstances they may have come to school when they were feeling unwell BUT things are very different now and students MUST NOT come to school if they are feeling unwell and have any symptoms of coronavirus/COVID19.
DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL WITH SYMPTOMS OF COVID19
Common symptoms of coronavirus include:
Please check the HSE website below for the most up-to-date information about COVID19 symptoms:
If you have any common symptoms of COVID-19 (coronavirus), self-isolate (stay in your room) and phone a GP straight away. Your GP will tell you if you need a free COVID-19 test.
Common symptoms of COVID-19 include:
-
a new cough - this can be any kind of cough, not just dry
-
shortness of breath or breathing difficulties
-
loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
You may not have all of these symptoms. It can take up to 14 days for symptoms to show. They can be similar to symptoms of cold and flu.
An early diagnosis from your GP means you can get the help you need and avoid spreading the virus, if you have it.
DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL
(and also restrict your movements for 14 days):
-
If you are a close contact of a confirmed case of coronavirus
-
If you live with someone who has symptoms of coronavirus, even if you feel well
-
Students SHOULD NOT attend school if they have returned to Ireland within the last 14 days. Please contact the school to inform us and to confirm the date that they are allowed back to school.
If a student is returning to school after travelling abroad (outside of Ireland) the school must be informed. They must follow the current government travel advice that applies at time of travel.
The government has published new travel advice which you can find here: gov.ie - COVID-19 Travel Advice (www.gov.ie) and gov.ie - Travelling to Ireland during the COVID-19 pandemic (www.gov.ie)
An email should be sent to larkinupdates@lcc.cdetb.ie containing the following information:
- Student Name
- Class
- Date returning to Ireland
- Date due back in school after completing quarantine/self-isolation.
- Country Travelling To/From
- Date leaving Ireland
Remember
While self-isolating/quarantining after travel the student must get in touch with teachers and access work virtually through Office 365/Teams. This is the student's responsibility.
