U19 Girls Quarter Finals
What a fantastic performance from our under 19 girls basketball team who secured a hard fought victory over old rivals Old Bawn in the regional quarter final. Star of the show was undoubtedly the hard working and dedicated Diane Hrivesceau who was tasked with the unenviable job of keeping tabs on Old Bawns ever impressive Tara O Doherty. To say Diane give every ounce of energy to the cause would be an extreme under statement. She was permanently on task and at one stage we could have sworn she was actually a shadow. Rose Mesquita stepped in to Marshall the playmaker fantastically well to allow Diane take a few minutes to catch her breath. Rose was unbelievable on the fast break and was a constant threat and outlet for our defence.
Amran Maxamad played a captains role with great skill and determination. She continually shut down the old bawn attack and this hard work ultimately led to her picking up 5 fouls and having to leave the game. She added 19 points on offence in a masterful three quarter performance. Our Spanish magician Julia Bermajo was in fine form as she continued to drive the team forward from the point, she picked up plenty of baskets of her own but some of her full court assists were beauty to behold.. Alicia Jadia was immense throughout and the highlight reel was once again added to with an astonishing ankle breaking drive for the basket that resulted in a three point play which was quickly followed up with a three from downtown. Samantha Kerrigan was a menace in the paint, picking up some fine scores due to a great sense of awareness and positioning. The ever impressive Tatiana Orlov was rock solid on defence picking up tons of rebound to thwart the Old Bawn attack. Suna Begum and Joanna Bambe added to the strength of the girls in the final quarter with some very important defensive interventions. This really was a fantastic performance from the girls full of heart, pride and passion. The girls will face Loreto Dalkey next week in the regional semi final.  Team and scorers: Amran Maxamad 14, Julia Bermajo 14, Alicia Jadia 9, Samantha Kerrigan 6, Rose Mesquita 13, Diane Hrivesceau 1, Tatiana Orlov, Joanne Bambe, Suna Begum and Suvd Ulambayor.

U16 Boys News

Hard luck to our under 16 boys Bball team who lost out 36-30 to a strong Donabate CS in the Dublin plate semi final. The lads showed great heart in recovering from an 18 point deficit to get within 2 with one minute remaining. We are super proud of the effort. Great performances from Kurt, Declan, Luke, Kyle and Gracjan.

Former Student Puts Basketball Team Through Their Paces

A massive thank you to former pupil Oktawia Piosik and her colleague Irena who led our senior girls Bball team in a fitness session this afternoon in preparation for Friday’s Leinster quarter final. Oktawia is currently studying Sports Management and Coaching in TU Dublin Blanchardstown. It’s always great to see former pupils return to show successful progression.

Kaiwen Yang Playing College Basketball

Well done to former pupil Kaiwen Yang who played a major role in TU Dublin’s opening round victory over NUI Maynooth in the first round of the All Ireland Colleges Basketball League. We are always so proud to see our past students blossom not only in an educational field at third level but also in the sporting arena. There are many exciting opportunities for those current students who decide to embark on their further education journey upon leaving Larkin CC. Kaiwen was captain of the Larkin CC team who won the Leinster title and reached the All Ireland Bball final in 2017.
