Our under 19 girls basketball team continued their winning ways with a fine victory over Wilson’s hospital in the All Ireland cup today. The girls once again started brightly takin a 14-6 lead following fine baskets from Mesquita, Jadia, Kerrigan and Maxamad. The second quarter would become a struggle however as The Wilson girls forced numerous turnovers with a high intensity press. The introduction of Orlov and Begum steadied the ship with Orlov especially being instrumental in picking up rebounds on both ends. A Jadia free throw and bermajo full court lay up saw the girls enter half time with a narrow three point lead. Bermajo came in to her own in the third quarter with a fine display of defensive and offensive prowess. She was ably assisted by team captain Maxamad who added an unanswered 8 points at the end of the quarter to stretch Larkins lead to 12. Hrvesceau, Bambe and Ulamabayor entered the fray to great affect in the fourth with the strength of the Larkin bench proving pivotal in ensuring the girls ran out comfortable winners in the end against a tired Wilson’s Hospital outfit. Our girls now find themselves in the the All Ireland Cup quarter final. Fantastic work girls. Our Senior girls basketball team recorded another emphatic victory as their winning run continued with a 52-20 win over St. Michaels of Finglas.Great work from all the girls with each team member getting plenty of court time. Tatiana Orlov was fantastic once again scoring 12 and winning lots of rebounds. Joanne Bambe also performed excellently under the boards scoring 6. Diane Hrvisceau added 6 also in an aggressive display of defense and offense.
Our senior girls basketball development team fell to a narrow defeat to Ardscoil la Salle this morning in a very entertaining game. It is always a pleasure to coach this bunch, win or lose they always have a smile on their faces. There was Strong performances from Elma Baldesco, Samsara Salinga, Yole Effemena, Chloe Hanny, Gift Ibe, Cheyenne Hee Hon Wye and Katrina Makarova. Great work girls.
Under 16 Girls
Our under 16 girls basketball teams had a great game against St Micheals finglas. They suffered a narrow defeat after overtime. Fine performances from Julia Bermajo and Leah Tighe in the 22-17 defeat. Hard luck girls.
