Basketball Year In Review 2016/2017 (10)

2016-17 has been the most successful year to date in the Larkin Basketball programme. The senior boys had an extremely impressive season in wining the East Leinster league title remaining unbeaten for the campaign. They also finished runners up in the All Ireland cup and received bronze medals.

In the All Ireland League. There were fine performances throughout the year from captain Kaiwen Yang, Andrzej Bobko, Jiahui Ren, John Lamoste, Jiahuang Ren and Thomas Murphy. Our under 16 boys also had an impressive season due to the phenomenal contribution of captain Salim Yahuza and the ever reliable Killian Kearns. They reached the East Leinster final and All Ireland League quarter final. Our under 14 boys are currently preparing for the All Ireland Cup Semi final which takes place on April 25th.  Larkin look forward to next season when they will be competing in the B league for the first time in the schools history.

The girls teams also had a successful season under the guidance of Ms. Barrett  in their first year in the C grade. Our second years just fell short in the Leinster semi final while our first years and under 16s narrowly missed out on a place in the Leinster quarter final on score difference.  There were numerous strong performers throughout the year including Maja Miedziejo, Rose Mesquita, Amran Maxamaad,Alicia Jadia, Samantha Kerrigan and Jessica Ziu. 
The season finished on a massive high for all teams as Larkin Managed victory in all 5 CDETB finals in the National Arena in March.
