TY Trip to Italy April 2019 - Blog by Craig Byas (60)
TY students together with the TY Co-ordinators took off on Tuesday for their three day trip to Italy taking in Milan, Venice and Verona. This gave them the opportunity to sample the Italian culture and practice their Italian language skills.

he Italy trip was incredible. On the first day we went by coach to Milan. We saw the Duamo Di Milano and the dome was beautiful. We also saw the church and it was interesting.
We had superb pizza. Then we had a bit of time to shop but it was expensive! Then we had a long bus journey to the hotel
The second day we went to Venice. We had to get a boat to the island. We got some pizza Italiano! Best pizza ever! Then we went on a 2 hour walking tour and it was good. We saw St Marks Basillica and square. We had some free time to explore the square too. We bought some souvenirs from Venice as gifts. Then back to the hotel. After dinner we went swimming in the hotel pool!
The 3 day we went to Verona. We saw Juliet’s house from Romeo and Juliet. It was spectacular! I got my photo taken with a statue of Juliet! We visited the arena which is a smaller version of the colosseum in Rome. They were building a stage there for the annual summer concerts. We explored the city centre and bought some lovely gelato!
We got the bus from Verona to Sirmione. We had a guided boat tour around Sirmione and Lake Garda and it was incredible. We stopped for lunch and I got authentic Italian spaghetti. We walked around the old town in Sirmione and saw the ruins and the castle.
This trip was my highlight of TY!
