U16 Girls Basketball Team Qualify for East Leinster Semi Final (10)

Massive congratulations to our under 16 girls basketball team who qualified for the East Leinster Semi final this morning after a comprehensive 44-30 victory over Mount Anville. The girls decided to not start playing until the second quarter leaving their coach and supporters in agony for 8 long minutes as they trailed 8-3. But up stepped the fantastic Tatiana Orlov who decided she wasn’t going to give up an inch to her opponents. Tatiana would go on to collect over 16 rebounds to give her team that extra edge they needed. Inspired by Tatiana’s hard work Rose and Amran began to make their mark on their game. The movement of Alicia Jadia to PG from the post proved decisive as she lay scores on a plate for Rose and Amran with her invaluable wrist work and accurate passing. Amran was determined to make up for the disappointing loss in the under 19 quarter final and after a slow opening quarter she was unstoppable driving up the floor and finishing some strong moves to the basket. Rose Mesquita once again finished top scorer with her deceptively quick movement on the fast break. Sunna Begum fought tirelessly for very possession and added 4 points in a dominant third quarter which saw the Larkin girls lead 38-10 at the buzzer. The introduction of Gizelle, Diana, Suvd  and Joanne in the final quarter sured up the result with Suvd hitting an impressive jump shot to round off the scoring. Well done girls we are so so proud. Scorers: Rose Mesquita 16, Alicia Jadia 12, Amran Maxamad 10, Sunna Begum 4, Suvd Ulambayor 2. MVP: Tatiana Orlov

Our under 16 girls basketball team will play Kishoge Community College at home in the East Leinster Regional Semi Final. The girls will be aiming to qualify for the schools first ever girls regional final at C level, a win will also secure progression to the All Ireland play offs for the first time in the schools history. Best of luck girls. Date and time will be announced later.
