What to do if you feel unwell in school
It is really important that you do NOT come to school if you are feeling unwell.
A parent/guardian must be available to come to the school immediately if any student feels unwell with COVID-19 symptoms. They will not be able to bring the student home on public transport/taxi.
Please make sure that the school has the correct mobile phone numbers for 2 parents/guardians that can be contacted.
Symptoms of COVID-19
The common symptoms of COVID19 are:
-
High temperature – fever, 38 degrees Celsius or above
-
Cough – any kind of cough, not just dry
-
Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties
-
Loss of smell, of taste or distortion of taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

What to do if you feel unwell in school:
If you are in school and you feel unwell with COVID19 symptoms you must tell your teacher immediately or report directly to the Principal/Deputy Principal.
The school will then follow the specific guidelines given to us by the HSE and the government:
-
You will be brought to an isolation room by a member of staff and will be kept at least 2m away from anyone else.
-
You will have to continue to wear your mask.
-
Your parent/guardian will be phoned immediately and they will have to collect you to bring you home to continue your self-isolation there. They will have to phone your doctor to get advice from them.
-
You will have to stay in the isolation room until your parent/guardian collects you.
-
You should cover your mouth and nose with the disposable tissue provided if you cough or sneeze and put the tissue in the waste bag provided.
-
As always, 999, will be phoned if anyone is very unwell and needs immediate medical care or advice.
-
You will not be able to use public transport or a taxi to travel home.
The isolation area will be cleaned appropriately once you leave the school.
