Inspiring Theatre Maker Visits Students for Who Am I? / How Am I? Project
Students recently had the opportunity to meet actor and theatre maker Trudy from D’GIRLOS Theatre as part of the Who Am I? / How Am I? Project. The visit marked the exciting start of the project’s second year and gave first year students a chance to engage in a special fireside chat focused on identity, creativity and community.
During the session, students Lavity and Dakota led the conversation as interviewers, asking thoughtful questions about Trudy’s journey and experiences in theatre. Their work was praised as “brilliant,” helping to create an engaging and inspiring discussion for everyone involved. After the event, first year students described the talk as inspirational and empowering.
Trudy is an actor and theatre maker based in Tallaght with a strong interest in immersive theatre and exploring social issues through performance. She graduated from TU Dublin in 2024 with a BA (Hons) in Drama (Performance), achieving first class honours.
In 2025, Trudy co-founded D’GIRLOS Theatre with Sophie O’Toole. The company aims to create more opportunities for working class voices and stories in Irish theatre. Their debut production, That’s Sooo Povo, premiered at the Dublin Fringe Festival 2025, where it was nominated for Best Production and the Solas Nua Award. Trudy also received the Next Stage Wildcard Award for her work on the piece. She has since taken part in the Next Stage programme at the Dublin Theatre Festival and is also a 2025 Axis Assemble Bursary recipient.
Deeply connected to her community, Trudy is passionate about how drama and theatre can bring people together and create meaningful spaces for shared stories. Her visit offered students valuable insight into the power of storytelling and following a passion for the arts.
