Sixth Year Art Students Explore Newgrange and Knowth
Our Sixth Year Art students had the exciting opportunity to visit Newgrange and Knowth as part of their Leaving Certificate Art coursework. This trip allowed them to bring their classroom learning into the real world, deepening their understanding of Ireland’s rich artistic heritage.
During the visit, students explored the intricate tombs and ancient carvings that make these sites internationally renowned. Seeing the prehistoric art and architecture up close gave them a unique insight into the techniques and symbolism they had studied in class.
The day proved to be both educational and inspiring, helping students connect their coursework with examples of Ireland’s earliest artistic achievements. It was a memorable experience that will no doubt enrich their studies and appreciation for art and history.
