Transition Year Students Collaborate with TU Dublin Climate Entrepreneurship Projects
Our Transition Year students enjoyed an incredible opportunity this week as they partnered with TU Dublin to tackle some of the pressing challenges of climate change.
Throughout the week, students engaged in brainstorming, problem solving and creative development, working together to design innovative solutions to real world environmental issues. The project culminated on Friday, when students proudly presented their final ideas, demonstrating the skills, teamwork, and confidence they had built during the process.
A huge well done to team J-orca (Adalina, Elena, Coco, Whitney and Lohane) whose project was to build a mechanical whale powered by renewable energy. This orca is designed to save the seas, by swimming around and eating any rubbish and plastic it finds in its path. The plastic is then collected on land and recycled.
We are deeply grateful to Edie and Jenny from TU Dublin for facilitating this inspiring initiative, which students described as both eye opening and hugely rewarding. A special thank you also goes to Ms. McKenzie for her excellent organisation and to the dedicated staff members who generously gave their time to support and supervise the students.
