Well done to all students who participated in Larkin Community College’s first Spelling Bee on Monday. There was a very competitive atmosphere in our library. We had a wonderful group of competitors who got involved.
It became very tense as the final five, who were all phenomenal spellers battled it out to the very end. Congratulations to Witold (first place), Lania (second place) and Sean (third place). A special thanks to Ms. O’Higgins for compèring the competition, Geraldine for designing the poster. Thanks to all parents, staff and students who came along to support our students.
“Literary lunacy” took place in the library on Monday with Reading Bingo. Lots of prizes, even more fun. Well done to everyone who took part!
1st years had an English class in the library and took part in an activity playing with word dice to learn new words and come up with creative writing sentences. They then worked on writing short stories for a competition.
2nd years also had the opportunity during their library class to play with some of the new literacy games.
Well done to all our students who helped celebrate World Book Day 2024.
Candle Lit Tales provided Storytelling in our JCSP library for 1st and 2nd year students to kick off the day! Students really enjoyed it! During lunch, there was a Scavenger Hunt where students had to find all Larkin staff’s favourite books from the displays around the school.Congratulations to our winners who found 45 posters during a very short time: Cara, Maria and Lania! The day ended with a school wide Drop Everything and Read. Really great atmosphere around the school celebrating all things literacy!
