Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024

This week we celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge in Larkin. Mr.O’Donnell and the Irish Department arranged a host of activities to celebrate the week. Students and staff were all encouraged to use a cúpla focail in their daily interactions with each other. The week has kicked off with all morning classses learning about the importance of the Irish language and culture as well as informing everyone of all the activities happening throughout the week!

 

Second, third and fifth year students took part in bingo and quizzes on Monday! They had great fun and really utilised the Irish language in their interactions. Well done to all our winners! Maith thú gach duine!

 

 

5th and 6th year Irish classes enjoyed a “maidin caife” on Wednesday. 5th years learned about caitheamh aimsire. While 6th years learned about the future tense and what they will do after their exams. Bain said taitneamh as an caife agus na borróga.

 

Students took part in a treasure hunt as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge on Thursday. They had loads of fun searching for clues around the school! Comhghairdeachas to Ava and Ella May who won from Mr.O’Donnells class and to Darcy and Cameron winning from Ms.NiGabhann’s class. Maith thú gach duine.

 

First years partook in a ceili on Friday in the sports hall. They had great fun. Maith thú to Nikita on winning an Rinceoir is Fearr and Bonnie, Charlie, Lily and Darcy for an grúpa is fearr award.

 

To end the week, Mr.O’Donnell organised a iontas mór for all staff at lunchtime! Everyone was treated to a home cooked delicious rolla bricfeasta!Míla buíochas a Mr.O’Donnell! What a great way to end Seachtain na Gaeilge!
